Tesla Cybercab: Earlier production start than expected?

Tesla provides new tests of its innovative Cybercab is causing a stir. The autonomous vehicle technology could come onto the market sooner than originally planned. First impressions of the tests at Giga Texas indicate possible progress - and perhaps even a production launch before 2026. What has Tesla plans, and will the Cybercab really be the first production vehicle without a steering wheel and pedals?

The unveiling of the Cybercab
The Cybercab was presented for the first time at an exclusive event in Burbank, California, at the beginning of October. During the event Tesla autonomous test drives to demonstrate the technology under controlled conditions. At the time, CEO Elon Musk announced 2026 as a possible production year. However, the latest developments make the Tesla-community to speculate whether it could start earlier.

Tests at Giga Texas
Since its launch, the Cybercab has been Giga Texas has been spotted driving over the terrain and navigating autonomously. What is particularly exciting is that all of the prototype's windows are completely darkened, making it unclear whether a human driver is on board for safety or whether the vehicle is driving completely autonomously.

Recent drone footage by Joe Tegtmeyer shows the Cybercab interacting with other vehicles on the streets of the factory premises. Interestingly, the Cybercab had to slow down when another vehicle crossed its path - an indication that Tesla is working intensively on optimizing its autonomous driving functions.

New production equipment and tests
In addition to the driving tests, other tests are also carried out at the site, including waterproofing tests. A large number of new production machines have also arrived at the factory in recent months. Insiders therefore assume that production of the Cybercab could start as early as the second half of 2025.

Speculation: Compact car or autonomous vehicle?
Whether the Cybercab will actually come without a steering wheel and pedals as announced remains to be seen. Some fans suspect, Tesla could initially bring it onto the market as an affordable compact model with conventional steering. However, if the autonomous technology is fully developed by 2025, the Cybercab could become the first series-produced vehicle without physical controls.

Conclusion and outlook
The tests at Giga Texas provide an exciting insight into Tesla's progress with autonomous vehicles. Whether the Cybercab will actually go into production earlier than planned and whether it will be a fully autonomous vehicle remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Tesla remains true to its innovation leadership and could revolutionize the automotive world once again.
