In the USA, there is now a brand new cooperation between Tesla and the well-known fast food restaurant Steak 'n Shake. This partnership could result in more than 100 additional Supercharger stations, making it one of the largest collaborations for the Tesla-charging network.
Why the Tesla Supercharger initiative is so exciting
Tesla wants to make charging as convenient as possible for its drivers. That's why the company often chooses locations with restaurants, stores or leisure facilities. The collaboration with Steak 'n Shake, a burger and milkshake chain that has been around since 1934, allows Tesla-drivers can enjoy a short break during their charging stop. Over 100 possible locations planned
So far, six new Tesla Superchargers-stations are firmly planned, while a further 20 are already in the design and testing phase. With over 400 restaurants in the USA - particularly in the eastern part of the country - around 20% of all outlets could have a fast charging option for Tesla-drivers.
More than just charging: Tesla focuses on experience
This development fits in with Tesla's larger strategy of turning charging into an overall experience. In parallel to this collaboration, a new Supercharger concept is being developed in Los Angeles with a retro-inspired diner and a drive-in movie theater. Two large screens, 30 charging stations and a restaurant that is open all day are intended to Tesla-drivers and passengers entertainment and comfort.

Such partnerships are a win-win situation for both sides: Tesla-Owners have a convenient way to charge their vehicle and eat or relax at the same time. The participating restaurants increase their visitor frequency. In the USA Tesla has already worked with other chains, including service stations with an extensive range of stores or large service stations. While this may only be interesting information for us in Europe, it shows how dynamically the expansion of the charging network is progressing worldwide.
