Are you ready for the latest software update from Tesla? The 2025 Spring Update brings a wealth of exciting innovations that further enhance the driving experience and safety in your Tesla. With features such as Adaptive High Beams, improved dashcam features, and optimized navigation options, Tesla once again focuses on innovation and customer comfort.
Adaptive High Beams for North America
A highlight of the update is the long-awaited Adaptive High Beams, which are now finally available for customers in the USA and Canada — after being introduced in Europe last year. These LED matrix headlights selectively dim individual pixels to spare oncoming traffic and reduce glare.
Note: This feature is available for vehicles with newer matrix headlights, but not yet for the Cybertruck, as its headlights are not compatible due to hardware limitations.
Improved Blind Spot Camera
For owners of the updated 2021+ Model S and Model X, there is pleasing news: The Blind Spot Camera is now more flexibly adjustable. Through the menu under Controls > Display > Automatic Blind Spot Camera, you can choose whether the camera feed is displayed on the driver's instrument display or the infotainment screen. This improves visibility and helps to better recognize potential dangers in the blind spot.
Dashcam Update – B-Pillar Recordings
Due to increased and often misguided vandalism damages, the developers Tesla have integrated the B-Pillar cameras (side upper cameras) into the dashcam and Sentry Mode recordings.
This will require more storage space on the USB stick, but at the same time, it will also optimize the protection of your vehicle through more comprehensive video recording. This innovation currently applies to vehicles with AI4 hardware ("S3XY"), with the Cybertruck expected to be added later.
Improved Dashcam Viewer
The user interface of the Dashcam Viewer has been completely redesigned. All camera feeds are now displayed simultaneously at the bottom of the screen — with practical control elements such as 15-second jumps and a direct link to the next video. This makes searching and reviewing the recordings much easier and more intuitive.
New Routing Options: Avoid Highways and More
There are also exciting innovations in the navigation area. In addition to the classic fastest route and a route with "Best Amenities & Fewer Stops," the option Avoid Highways available. This feature allows you to largely avoid highways and drive more relaxed on country roads.
In addition, further routing optimizations have been made to tailor route planning even more individually to your needs.
Further Innovations in the Update
-
Trunk Height Based on Location:
Now you can adjust the opening height of your trunk based on location – ideal for taking into account narrow garages. This feature is also available for the Cybertruck (via the in-frunk or external frunk button). -
Accessory Power Option:
With the new “Accessory Power” function, you can actively use 12V sockets, USB ports, and wireless phone chargers outside the vehicle – ideal for mobile use when Camp Mode is not desired. -
Cybertruck Updates:
In addition to the comfort mode, which ensures a smoother driving behavior and higher ride height, the Cybertruck now also receives Lane Departure Avoidance. This feature visually and audibly warns you when you leave the lane and actively helps you return to the lane. -
Minor Adjustments:
Other improvements include new language options on the touchscreen keyboard, optimized media search results, improved control for streaming services like Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music, as well as automatic connection with your smartphone hotspot.
Release and Outlook
The first version of the 2025 Spring Update (Version 2025.14) has already been distributed to Tesla employees. If no major issues occur, the gradual release to the first customers will begin shortly. Tesla promises that this update already improves many of the core functions and optimizes the driving experience in a forward-looking way.
