Will Tesla introduce a new HD radar with the Tesla Model 3 update?

The Tesla Model 3 is currently in intensive talks about its planned update in 2023. A few days ago, a Tesla Model 3 covered at the front and rear was sighted in California. Which change exactly is hidden under the cover, however, remains open. Now there is more news about the upcoming update in 2023. Tesla has informed the FCC that the company plans to launch a new radar device starting next month. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is an independent agency of the United States in Washington, D.C. It controls the communication channels broadcast, satellite and cable. This move raises even more concerns about potentially required updates to the hardware suite to achieve the promised autonomous driving of the Tesla models.

Since the market launch of the Tesla Model 3 in America in 2017, Tesla has not only adapted the software accordingly, but also the hardware has been changed again and again. Faster processors, new cameras, the elimination of the forward-facing radar and most recently the elimination of the ultrasonic sensors. All of this is part of the "Tesla Vision" approach, in which Tesla assumes that the best way to achieve a self-driving car is to use cameras instead of sensors. The logic behind this is that the roads are designed for humans to operate the cars using their eyesight (eyes - cameras) and biological neural networks (brain - software).

Now a document from the FCC has appeared on Twitter that confirms the secrecy until 12/07/22. And this is exactly where Tesla requested an extension. In the filing, Tesla confirms that the company plans to launch the new device "mid-January." In some conversations, Tesla kept adding that Tesla would do without a radar, unless there was a very high-resolution radar, which is not yet to be found. So it's very possible that Tesla is working and developing exactly on the radar. Presumably this could be a double-range 4D radar.
