Tesla recently announced a major innovation for Tesla-owners in the USA: The direct online sale of spare parts. Without much notice, the Tesla Parts Catalog was expanded to include the option of selling selected spare parts directly to end customers. This development not only makes life easier for DIY enthusiasts, but also represents a fundamental change to the previous Tesla-service model.
What has changed?
Previously Tesla-owners either had to go to a service center or contact one of the Tesla authorized third-party workshops to obtain spare parts. However, both options could be associated with long waiting times or higher costs.
