Tesla Postpones release of a slimmed-down Cybertruck model

Tesla has announced that it is postponing the launch of a lower-priced version of its Cybertruck until "the end of 2024". The market launch was originally planned for this quarter, but high demand for the current Foundation variant prompted the company to make this decision. The additional Foundation package is associated with a surcharge of 20,000 US dollars.

CEO Elon Musk had previously held out the prospect of a prompt release of the cheaper version during the shareholders' meeting two weeks ago. Meanwhile, production of the Cybertruck is being intensified, while Tesla has already resolved the initial challenges with defective windshield wipers, loose trim strips and problems with the accelerator pedal.

Deliveries of the Cybertruck began late last year with the Foundation Series, a fully equipped model offered in addition to the base price of more than $120,000. This version includes bi-directional Powershare charging, laser-etched badges and prioritized delivery.
