Tesla celebrates another milestone in the expansion of its Supercharger network with the installation of the 60,000th charging point worldwide. The milestone was reached in Enshu Morimachi in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, where the 600th Supercharger in the country was also opened.
First V4 Supercharger in Japan
The Enshu Morimachi Supercharger is not only historically significant for its global importance, but also introduces the first V4 Supercharger in Japan. These new charging points feature longer charging cables that allow for greater compatibility with different electric vehicles. Although the V4 Superchargers currently offer the same maximum output of 250 kW as the V3 stations, they are expected to deliver even faster charging speeds in the future.
Design and features of the milestone charging points
As with other recent Superchargers, the 60,000th charge point has a unique design and a plaque highlighting its significance. These special features are intended to emphasize the historical significance of the charging point and distinguish it from other stations.

Rapid expansion of the Supercharger network
Since the first installation of Superchargers in the USA in 2012, the network of Tesla has expanded continuously. Expansion has increased significantly in recent years in particular. In 2018, the company celebrated Tesla the installation of its 10,000th Supercharger in Belleville, Ontario. With the introduction of the models Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y had to Tesla increase the number of Superchargers to meet the growing demand. By 2021, the network had already reached 30,000 Superchargers worldwide, with 5,000 new charging points added in the previous six months alone.
Doubling the number of Superchargers in three years
Three years later, the number of Superchargers has almost doubled and now stands at an impressive 60,000 worldwide. This rapid expansion underlines Tesla's commitment to continuously improving and expanding the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.

Future prospects: V4 Supercharger and global compatibility
With the introduction of the V4 Supercharger goes Tesla another step towards improving its Supercharger network. These new stations are not only for Tesla-vehicles, but also for other electric vehicles thanks to the support of the North American Charging Standard (NACS). This enables other car manufacturers to use the charging network of Tesla charging network, increasing accessibility and flexibility for all electric vehicle owners.
Cost efficiency and faster charging times
Tesla plans to further improve charging speeds as the technology matures. The V4 Superchargers are expected to enable higher charging capacities in the future, further reducing charging times. This is a decisive step towards further increasing the acceptance of electric vehicles and improving the competitiveness of Tesla on the global market.
Conclusion: significant progress for electromobility
With the achievement of 60,000 Supercharger charging points worldwide Tesla its position as a leading provider of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure. The continued expansion of the Supercharger network, particularly the launch of the V4 Superchargers in Japan, demonstrates Tesla's commitment to advancing electric mobility and improving charging infrastructure worldwide. These developments are instrumental in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and improving the driving experience for Tesla-customers worldwide.
