With the new Tesla Model 3 "Highland," Tesla has brought its current entry-level model even closer to the Model S luxury sedan in terms of looks, technology and features, and now has many features previously reserved for the Model S/X, such as ventilated seats, a quieter interior and a rear-row screen. Of course, there are still differences, such as the air suspension in the Model S, but the gap is narrowing. In some respects, however, Model S/X seem to be catching up. Now, "Greentheonly" on X shows the first hints that the Model S/X will get the same RGB ambient lighting as the new Model 3. The clues were spotted in one of Tesla's recent firmware updates. Green points out that Tesla is much more careful these days about including code that could hint at future features. Given the discovery, he assumes Tesla has already implemented the feature or will soon begin integrating it into production. Just recently, Tesla had introduced some new features in China, such as ambient lighting and a new dashboard in the Model Y unveiled out of nowhere
Another new information is that the Model S/X will get not only ambient lighting but also a front camera in one of the next updates. This has already been announced for the new Tesla Model 3 "Highland", but although this front camera was visible on the first Tesla photos and videos at the presentation, this innovation was not integrated. Shortly after the release, Tesla edited exactly these photos and videos and removed the front camera.
However, it is confirmed that the new Tesla Cybertruck will also get this front camera. It is not known if the front camera will be used to improve Autopilot and FSD or if it is more of a parking assist improvement. So the last quarter will be exciting for Tesla fans and potential buyers once again. Not only will the new Tesla Model 3 and hopefully the Cybertruck will cause a stir, but also the upcoming innovations to the existing vehicles such as Model Y, S and S.
