New car warranty

Your Tesla-vehicle is covered by a comprehensive new car warranty that includes the following:

  1. Basic vehicle warranty:

    • Duration4 years or 80,000 km, whichever comes first.
  2. Restraint system warranty:

    • Duration5 years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first.
  3. Warranty on battery and drive unit:

    • Model S / Model X8 years or 240,000 km, with at least 70% battery capacity.
    • Model 3 (rear-wheel drive and maximum range rear-wheel drive) / Model Y (rear-wheel drive)8 years or 160,000 km, with at least 70% battery capacity.
    • Model 3 (Maximum range and performance) / Model Y (Maximum range, Performance, Maximum range with rear-wheel drive)8 years or 192,000 km, with at least 70% battery capacity.

These warranties cover repairs or replacement of components that fail under normal conditions of use due to material or manufacturing defects.

Used car warranty

For certified used vehicles from Tesla:

  • Basic vehicle warrantyRemaining term of the original 4-year or 80,000 km warranty.
  • Additional used car warranty1 year or 20,000 km if the basic vehicle warranty has expired.
  • Warranty on battery and drive unit: Remaining term of the original warranty.

Limited warranty on components, bodywork and paint repairs

This warranty applies to Tesla purchased or installed parts and covers defects in materials or workmanship.

  • General term12 months or 20,000 km.
  • Metal sheets: Limited lifetime.
  • Drive unit and high-voltage battery: 4 years or 80,000 km.
  • Wall Connectors: 4 years for private use, 12 months for commercial use.
  • Touchscreen and media control module: 2 years or 40,000 km.

Warranty extension

As long as your vehicle is still covered by a new car warranty, you can extend your warranty with Tesla via Helvetia. This extends the protection by up to a further 4 years or 80,000 km, whichever comes first. The warranty extension covers electrical or mechanical faults to the vehicle and repairs or replacement of parts for reasons other than wear and tear, normal wear and tear or negligence. The battery and drive unit are excluded from this extension as they are covered by separate warranties.
