Tesla and power management specialist Eaton have announced an exciting collaboration focused on improving home storage solutions. The partnership was unveiled on September 9th at the RE+ 24 Energy Conference in Anaheim, California. The goal of the collaboration is to simplify and optimize the integration and use of energy storage for homes.
At the center of this collaboration is the interoperability between Tesla's Powerwall and Eaton's new AbleEdge smart breakers. This combination is designed to significantly simplify the installation and management of energy storage systems. This is particularly relevant for households that want to charge electric vehicles and manage their energy storage efficiently in addition to using solar energy.
The future of home storage: integration and flexibility
With this cooperation, Eaton is pursuing its "Home as a Grid" strategy, in which households become self-sufficient energy centers. The collaboration with Tesla represents a significant step towards improving the energy management of households and extending the energy supply in times of power outages. The planned launch of the cooperation is scheduled for early 2025. Until then, both companies are working on seamlessly linking their technologies. The Powerwall from Tesla will be integrated into the system, allowing installers and homeowners to control and monitor all energy management via Tesla's app. This significantly reduces the installation effort and makes energy management more accessible for private households.
