Tesla seeks engineers for teleoperation: Robotaxi & Optimus in focus

Tesla gives exciting insights into the future of robotics and autonomy! The company has published a new job posting seeking engineers for the teleoperation of robotaxis and the Tesla bot. Find out here what is behind these positions and why Tesla is increasing massively in this area.

What does teleoperation mean for Tesla?

Teleoperation refers to the remote control of autonomous vehicles and robots. Tesla plans to use this technology for both robotaxi fleet as well as for the humanoid Tesla bot (Optimus) to be used. The remote control is intended to provide support in critical situations in which the autonomous software is unable to make progress, while ensuring reliable human-machine interaction.

Tesla has on November 24, 2024 advertised two positions in Palo Alto, California, which are closely linked to the development of teleoperation technologies:

C++ Software Engineer for Teleoperation

This position focuses on the development of an application in Unreal Engine that allows remote operators to control both robotaxis and the Tesla control the bot. Tasks include:

  • Developing front and back end solutions with a focus on usability, security and performance.
  • Designing the architecture for reliable and high-performance systems.
  • Integration of technologies such as C++, Pythonand working with Linux and Windows.

Backend Software Engineer for Tesla Bot and Robotaxi

The backend engineer will be responsible for infrastructure and automation. The focus areas are:

  • Development of software components for autonomous functions.
  • Setting up test systems and monitoring tools for smooth teleoperation.
  • Work with Go, C++, PostgreSQLas well as virtualization platforms like Kubernetes.

Why now? Tesla's expansion into autonomy and robotics

The two positions are only part of Tesla's big push into robotics. For the Tesla bot alone, the company has 35 new positions a clear indication that the production and development of Optimus is gaining momentum. The combination of robotaxis and humanoid robots underlines Tesla's vision of integrating autonomous technologies into everyday life.

Conclusion: The future of Robotaxi and Tesla bot is closer than we think

Tesla's search for teleoperation engineers shows how close the company is to introducing autonomous and remote-controlled systems. This opens up exciting opportunities, especially for developers and technology enthusiasts working in areas such as robotics and software architecture.
