The first images of the new UI V12 on X were launched at the weekend and with the launch of the Cybertruck and its unique UI, there was great anticipation for an upcoming version for the existing models. The update that has now been shown, which could come as early as spring, shows a similar display to the Cybertruck and brings a significant refresh to the existing system. We have listed the other features of the latest software update here. Please note that this is a first look at the 2024.14 update and there may be other new functions that are not yet listed here. The various functions also depend on the model and country.
Visual update:
- Impressive vehicle control in full screen mode when the Tesla is parked
- Large playback controls and quick access to, for example, navigation favorites or the media player
- Expandable autopilot visualizations, with a smaller map at the top right for route guidance
- A slimmer and more compact driving mode bar and refined driving displays

Trunk opening without using your hands:
Open your trunk even when your hands are full. Stay briefly behind the trunk until the beep sounds and the trunk opens by itself. To activate this function, go to Vehicle Settings > Locks > Hands-Free Trunk. Make sure that your phone settings allow interaction with the Tesla app at close range
Requires iPhone 11+ and Tesla App 4.31.0+. A future update will extend this function to Android users.
Preview of guard mode recordings:
When Guard Mode triggers the vehicle alarm and records an event, you can instantly view a short clip of the recording on your phone. The preview videos are end-to-end encrypted and can be viewed by Tesla not be viewed by third parties.

Progress bar of the journey
Below the turn list in the navigation, you will see a progress bar that changes the closer you get to your destination or the next stopover. The progress bar also shows the current traffic situation on your route if online route planning is activated. Online route planning and Premium connectivity are required.
Spotify queue and playback speed
You can synchronize your Spotify queue between vehicles and devices and adjust the playback speed.
Better route available
Navigation shows you in the turn-off list whether a faster route is available. To determine how often these suggestions are displayed, set the number of minutes. To do this, go to Navigation > Online routing > Reroute in the vehicle settings. To be able to use this function, online route planning must be activated.
Speed camera chime
To hear a signal tone when you are approaching a speed camera, activate the Navigation -> Speed camera signal tone option in the vehicle settings. Requires online route guidance and premium connectivity.
Zones for average speeds
When driving through an average speed zone, the average speed in the zone and the distance to the end of the zone are now displayed. Requires online route guidance and premium connectivity.
