Burglars beware: Tesla's Sentry Mode gets a loud upgrade. In a recently updated entry on the official Cybertruck website, an exciting detail is hidden – the Sentry Mode will not only provide visual and acoustic warnings in the future, but will also play music at full volume when a threat is detected.
Music as a deterrent: Sentry Mode becomes a siren with style
Tesla describes the function on the Cybertruck page as follows:
“Activate Sentry Mode to monitor your unattended vehicle or trailer. In the event of a threat, the alarm will be triggered, the touchscreen will brighten, and music will play at maximum volume.”
What initially sounds like an Easter egg is apparently meant seriously: Tesla makes music the new weapon against vandals and burglars – and uses the powerful external speakers of the Cybertruck, which are already known for the Boombox feature.
Why the Cybertruck is perfect for this function
The Cybertruck brings all the necessary prerequisites to use the new feature to maximum effect:
- Superhorn & external speakers: These can already play music while stationary.
- Robust construction: Perfectly suited for trailers, camping, and remote parking lots.
- Boombox support: Music over the speaker instead of just inside the cabin.
The combination of volume, attention, and surprising soundscape could elevate Sentry Mode to a whole new level – and drive potential perpetrators away, before they cause any damage.
Other Tesla models are also expected to benefit
Although the new function was first discovered on the Cybertruck website, it is very likely that the feature will also be extended to other Tesla models – particularly those with an integrated Boombox feature and external speakers.
This includes, among others:
- Model 3 Highland
- Model Y from 2021
- Model S & X (new generations)
Only older vehicles without the so-called PWS (Pedestrian Warning System) are likely to be left out. These do not have external speakers and are therefore technically unable to play music outside the vehicle.
When will the feature be available?
In Tesla's current software version 2025.8, the new function is not yet included. However, insiders assume that Tesla is preparing a major update for the spring – similar to last year's spring version.
The signs are good that “Sentry Mode Music” will be part of the next major rollout. Tesla has focused on smaller bug fixes in the latest updates, which suggests a larger feature package in the near future.
Music on demand? USB support conceivable
One particularly exciting question remains open: Can drivers upload their own sounds via USB? If Tesla allows this, completely new – and also creative – possibilities arise:
- Favorite song as a “siren”
- Dog barking or alarm sirens
- Funny voice announcements (“Hands off my car!”)
The technical prerequisites for this are already given by the Boombox feature. Tesla would just need to integrate the function into the Sentry Mode – which could make the security feature simultaneously an entertainment gag.
Conclusion: Sentry Mode becomes smarter – and louder
What began as a silent guardian is increasingly developing into an active deterrent system. With music at maximum volume, the Tesla Sentry Mode becomes not only smarter but also bolder.
Tesla once again shows how safety and innovation can be playfully combined – with a wink and in the spirit of the community. Whether Bach, Boombox, or a self-selected track: Teslas will not only be seen in the future but also heard.
