Tesla Model Y can now be ordered as a standard version with rear-wheel drive in Europe. Price increase Model Y Long Range?

Since last night, the standard version of the Tesla Model Y with rear-wheel drive can be found in the configurator throughout Europe and can also be ordered. The starting price for the Tesla Model Y is therefore 53,990 euros. This means that the standard version is just 3,000 euros cheaper than the Y Long Range model. Such a low price difference between these two variants is currently not found in any other country in Europe. It is therefore quite possible that Tesla will correct the price for the long-range variant upwards in the next few days. Due to the cheaper entry-level variant, the Model Y remains interesting for many buyers and continues to be eligible. All previously known colors and additional equipment are also available for this model.

In a press release, Tesla confirms that the standard variant with rear-wheel drive will initially come from Shanghai/ China. In addition, a charging capacity of up to 170 kilowatts will be possible. In contrast to the Model 3, the standard variant will already have the premium interior with the premium audio system.

The top speed of the long range is also 217 km/h. Tesla accelerates from 0 to 100 in 6.9 seconds, while the Long Range manages this sprint in just 5.0 seconds. With today's order, Tesla states in the configurator for Germany that the 19 inch rim will be delivered between January and March 2023 and the 20 inch rim between November 2022 and January 2023.

The range for the rear-wheel drive variant with the 19-inch standard rim is (WLTP estimated) 455 kilometers. It is not yet known which battery size this model will have and which supplier it will come from.
