Tesla has reached a significant milestone with the opening of its 100th Supercharger site in Glenelg, South Australia. This not only marks a decade of Superchargers' presence in Australia, but also underlines Tesla's commitment to reducing drivers' range anxiety and encouraging the uptake of electric vehicles (EVs).
Progress and future plans
A few months ago, we reported on difficulties within the Supercharger team and potential delays in expansion. However, recent developments show that the expansion has now been given the green light. The opening of the 100th location is a sign of the reliability and efficiency of the Tesla-charging network, which now comprises over 600 charging stations in Australia.
Thom Drew, Country Director of Tesla Australia and New Zealand, emphasizes: "We are investing in our Supercharger network to provide a charging experience that integrates into the Australian lifestyle. Our goal is to eliminate range anxiety and make the benefits of electric driving accessible to more people."
Access for all EV drivers
Of particular note is that some Tesla-locations are also accessible for nonTesla-drivers. This expands the charging infrastructure on important transport routes and offers additional options for other electric vehicles, even if this is currently only possible to a limited extent.
