Already some time ago, pictures of the new V4 Supercharger fast charging stations appeared on the internet. Now this week, the new V4 Superchargers were opened in Harderwijk in the Netherlands. This is the first location in the world with the new Supercharger generation. There are now a total of 16 of these new V4 Superchargers there. According to some information, the site will soon be opened to third-party brands as well. The big distinguishing feature of the V4 Superchargers, besides the taller and new housing, which is closed in the middle, is a longer charging cable, which should make charging easier for electric cars of other brands. The new Superchargers in Harderwijk are initially only open to Tesla vehicles, as Tesla wants to test and evaluate the performance of the new columns.
There is no concrete statement yet from Tesla itself on the performance of the new columns, but the available information differs. When the site was discovered a few weeks agoand the facility was still under construction, a type plate was photographed on one of the pillars that indicated 250 kW as the maximum output power - as well as 500 volts as the maximum voltage and 631 amps of maximum current. Now a photo has surfaced that purports to be attached to the back of one of the V4 Superchargers. There, a "Rated Voltage" of 1,000 VDC is indicated as well as a "Rated Current" of 615 amps. In purely mathematical terms, this could result in up to 615 kW of charging power. This could be possible in the future with new transformer technology.
