Tesla Recalls 2,400 Cybertrucks: safety problem

Tesla has announced, in the USA 2,400 Cybertrucks in the USA. The reason is a faulty drive inverter, which could lead to a loss of drive power and thus increase the risk of accidents. What is the problem?

Tesla has announced in a message to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that the defect affects vehicles manufactured up to July 30, 2024 were produced. The drive inverter could suddenly stop generating torque when the accelerator pedal is used, which could lead to a loss of drive power. This increases the risk of an accident, especially in road traffic.

Findings to date:

  • Tesla is five warranty claims in connection with this problem.
  • These were no accidents or injuries have been reported that are attributable to this problem.

Solution and next steps

Tesla will replace the faulty drive inverter with an updated component. This improved component has been in use since July 30, 2024 used in production. Affected owners will be able to December 9, 2024 a free replacement at Tesla-service centers free of charge.

The Cybertruck was launched in 2023 after a two-year delay following production and battery challenges. Since then, there have been several recalls, including
