Tesla is now offering Midnight Cherry Red and Quicksilver as options for the Model Y RWD!

Who so far a Tesla Model Y in the basic variant, unfortunately did not get the new colors Quicksilver or Midnight Cherry Red yet, because only the standard colors white and black from Grünheide were available. As of today, the new colors for the base variant are also available. So far, when ordering, there has been no influence on whether the ordered vehicle comes from Grünheide or Shanghai. However, this could change this quarter, as Tesla is expected to offer all variants of the Tesla Model Y for the European market from Grünheide. Those who currently want to be 100 percent sure of receiving a vehicle from Grünheide should opt for one of the new colors, as these will be produced exclusively in Grünheide and not in Shanghai.

What is particularly interesting about the vehicles from Grünheide is the new BYD Blade battery with LFP cells, which is installed at Tesla. In principle, LFP cells have the advantage that, unlike lithium-ion batteries, they can always be charged to 100%, whereas with lithium-ion batteries this is only recommended in exceptional cases, e.g. before a long journey. This means that the range of a long range or performance battery is almost reached, despite the smaller battery. In addition, the new BYD battery from Tesla has the advantage that the charging curve is significantly better, since the charging power only drops slowly in contrast to the previous variants from Tesla. As a result, the basic variant of the Tesla Model Y with the BYD battery can clearly keep up with the larger batteries even over long distances.
