V4 Supercharger: What's new?
Since the spring of 2024 Tesla the fourth generation Supercharger were introduced. But only with the V4 Cabinet the full potential of these pillars is exploited:
- Higher charging power: With up to 500 kW for electric cars, charging is faster than ever before.
- Design optimizations: The V4 columns are higher, have longer charging cables and offer an externally mounted cable holder - ideal for vehicles with different charging port positions.
- Extended capacity: A V4 cabinet can power up to eight stalls simultaneously, twice as many as its V3 predecessor.
Cybertruck and Semi: winners of the new technology
With the introduction of the CybertruckTesla's first vehicle with 800-volt systemreduces the charging time by up to 30 %. The Tesla semi, an electric truck developed for commercial use, even achieves a charging capacity of 1.2 MWideal for long-distance journeys with heavy loads.
Efficiency and sustainability
Tesla is also focusing on sustainability and efficiency with the new enclosures:
- Higher energy density: Charging parks require less space and infrastructure, which reduces construction and operating costs.
- Improved efficiency: The V4 Cabinet has a 2% improvement in efficiency, which saves energy in the long term.
- Less waste heat: The optimized power electronics save Tesla 100 GWh/year of waste heat a step towards a climate-neutral charging infrastructure.
When and where?
The first charging parks with the new V4 control cabinets are scheduled to go into operation in 2025. This will Tesla once again setting standards for fast and efficient charging of electric vehicles.
