In recent weeks, the first photos of the camouflaged Tesla Model 3 caused a stir on the web. The new model with the internal code name Highland could still be produced in the middle of this year and delivered to the first customers. Apparently, Tesla is also working on a revised version of the Tesla Model Y for the end of 2002 under the code name Juniper, as reported by the news agency Reuters.
The changes, which will be made on the Model Y will affect the exterior and interior, Reuters writes, citing two people familiar with the matter. In production, the innovations should go from October next year in China. Later, production in Germany and the U.S. would also have to be adapted. Exactly what changes Tesla is planning is not yet known.
Unlike traditional car manufacturers, Tesla continuously updates its electric cars. Model 3 and Model Y have already been revised in many places since their launch. Most recently, the Tesla Model Y from Shanghai received an update to the dampers in January. Now, according to the report, a kind of model change like in the series of the established brands is imminent for the first time. Most recently, there was an update for the Model S sedan and the Model X SUV. Here, the body, the interior and the powertrain were renewed and made fresh for the next few years.
Meanwhile, the company continues to ramp up production of the current models. In February, for example, 4000 Tesla Model Y iwere produced at the German Gigafactory in Brandenburg near Berlin. Production is expected to reach 500,000 vehicles a year in the first stage, including later the Model 3.
