Tesla-drivers know it: in different weather conditions, we want to ensure that our vehicle maintains a comfortable interior temperature while parked. There are three practical functions for this - Keep Climate On, Dog Mode and Camp Mode. But what exactly is the difference between these modes? In this article, we explain the differences and when you should use which mode.
Keep Climate On: perfect temperature even during short stops
Keep Climate On is ideal if you leave your car for a short time and want to keep the temperature in the interior constant. For example, if you go shopping quickly and want to ensure that the car remains pleasantly cool or warm when you return.
Keep Climate On must be activated directly in the vehicle via the HVAC menu by selecting the "Keep" icon.
This mode keeps the air conditioning on indefinitely until you switch it off or the battery level drops to 20%. As soon as this is the case, the mode is automatically deactivated.
Dog Mode: pet-friendly and safe
Dog Mode was specially developed for pets. It ensures that the interior remains comfortable for your four-legged friend even in hot or cold temperatures. A big difference to Keep Climate On: the screen stays on and displays a message to inform passers-by that the pet is safe and the temperature is being regulated.
This mode is perfect if you are only out of range for a short time. You can activate it via the Tesla-app and keep an eye on the temperature. However, bear in mind that the mode is also deactivated here as soon as the battery level reaches 20%.
Camp mode: perfect solution for overnight stays in the car
Camp Mode is particularly useful for those who like to stay in the Tesla spend the night. In this mode, the USB ports and the 12-volt socket remain active so that you can charge devices or use electronics. The infotainment system also remains switched on so that you can listen to music, surf the internet or stream movies.
As with the other modes, Camp Mode is also deactivated when the battery drops to 20%. In addition, the car will not lock automatically when you are asleep in Camp Mode - so you have to lock it manually.
