In contrast to the Tesla Model S facelift, the current Model X facelift has not yet been equipped with new headlights, contrary to expectations. Thus, unlike all other Tesla models, the Model X does not yet have headlights with lenses that could be matrix-enabled, among other things. But now pictures have surfaced that show that Tesla has finally equipped the Model X with new LED headlights after more than a year.
In a memo to employees leaked to Drive Tesla last week, the automaker refers to the headlights as "global headlights" and explains that the latest change is part of the company's strategy to have "one lamp for all markets." Although the technical specifications of the new headlights are not mentioned, the memo states that the headlights are controlled by software that allows them to project different light patterns depending on the requirements of the region where the vehicle is located. The changeover on the Fremont production lines has already taken place, and photos of a Model X in Toronto with the new headlights were shared on Twitter. As you can see below, the new headlights are quite different from the previous generation.

Tesla's latest headlights are often referred to as Matrix LED headlights. However, there is no official word from Tesla on whether the headlights will support this feature in the future. Although the headlights have the technology to support true matrix LED lighting, the feature is not enabled in any Tesla vehicle, which was announced after its introduction in the Model 3 was to be expected. True matrix LED headlights can turn off parts of their beam to maximize illumination of the road, while dimming other parts to avoid blinding oncoming drivers. As noted in the internal memo above, Tesla modifies the beam to meet regional requirements, but for whatever reason, Tesla does not offer true matrix LED behavior in its global headlights.
However, it is possible that this feature will be added with the update of the Model 3 "Highland" and an updated headlight design will be introduced.
