Tesla improves its app with offline commands for faster and more reliable vehicle control.
What are the new offline commands?
Tesla leads Offline commands which makes it possible to control the vehicle via Bluetooth without having to rely on an internet connection. Commands such as opening the fresco or starting the air conditioning are now carried out immediatelywhen you are near your vehicle.
Improvements to the Tesla app
In the last few years Tesla significantly improved the connectivity of its app:
- Delayed commandsPreviously, you had to wait for the vehicle to wake up. With the delayed commands, you could send the command and it would be executed as soon as the car was ready.
- Updated vehicle data: The vehicle sends updated data before going to sleep to Tesla, so that the app always displays the latest status.
Compatible models
The new offline commands are available for
- Tesla Model 3 and Model Y
- Model S and Model X from year of construction 2021
- Tesla Cybertruck
Restrictions for older models
Older models such as the Legacy Model S/X (before the 2021 refresh) do not currently support offline commands. These vehicles still require an internet connection for most commands, except for unlocking.
Requirements and availability
To use the offline commands, you need:
- The Tesla App version 4.38 or higher
- Your vehicle must be set to Software version 2024.38 or higher
Future prospects
Tesla is continuously working on equipping older models with new functions. Although there are currently technical limitations, future updates could bring further improvements to legacy models models.
