Tesla reactivates referral program in the USA

Tesla has reintroduced its referral program in North America. After being discontinued in April 2024, the e-car pioneer is returning with a new model that once again offers attractive discounts to buyers and referrers. Compared to previous versions, the Tesla restructured the rewards and offers a clearer advantage for both sides.

A return to the original concept

The original referral program from Tesla, which was launched in 2015, rewarded customers who referred new buyers with 1,000 US dollars per successful purchase. In the new version Tesla continues along this path, but with a difference: now buyers themselves receive a discount of 1,000 US dollars on their vehicle purchase when they use a referral code. The referrer receives 500 US dollars, which can be transferred to Tesla-products. These rewards apply to both the popular models such as the Model S, Model X, Model Y and Model 3 as well as for accessories and services in the Tesla-ecosystem.

 

 

Flexibility for customers and focus on customer satisfaction

The new referral program demonstrates Tesla's efforts to prioritize customer experience. The focus is not only on vehicle sales, but also on the entire product range. The discount received can be applied to any Tesla-product, which significantly increases the attractiveness of the program. This flexibility is a response to criticism of the previous program, which often offered additional benefits that could not be used in full. One example of this was the offer of free Supercharger charging times, which were superfluous for many customers as they simply did not have such a high charging requirement.

Initially only available in North America

The new referral program is currently only available in North America. If and when Tesla plans to reintroduce the program in Europe remain unclear. The German support page still refers to the end of the "Recommend and Earn" program on April 30, 2024. However, benefits from this loyalty program can still be used until its expiration date.

The reintroduction of the referral program could be Tesla be an effective way to strengthen customer loyalty while promoting sales of its vehicles. By offering discounts to new buyers and referrers Tesla continues to rely on the power of word of mouth, which has helped the company to grow strongly for years.
