Last night, Tesla has quietly unveiled the new Tesla Model 3 facelift with the project name Highland. After details were repeatedly presented and pictures of a possible appearance were leaked in the last few days, there is now certainty. The Tesla Model 3 is already available in the configurator and can be ordered. We have summarized the most important information known so far here:
The Tesla Model 3 is currently available for order in the Standard and Long Range variants. The prices are identical in Germany according to the current status. Both models have a top speed of 201 km/h. A performance version will probably be released at a later date.
Externally, the Model 3 remains identical in its basic form, but receives some visual updates. A new bumper and narrower headlights make the Model 3 sportier appearance from the front. The rear end has also been completely redesigned and sharpened. The taillights have been completely redesigned and integrated into the tailgate. In addition, the Model 3 Tesla lettering familiar from the Model S and a sporty diffuser. There are hardly any changes at the sides, where a new edge on the side cameras and revised rims stand out. How the Model Y the new Model 3 has all-round acoustic glazing. There are also two new colors: Ultra Red and Stealth Grey.
The interior of the new Model 3 has been almost completely redesigned. New materials, new technology and more equipment. The dashboard has been completely redesigned and partially covered with fabric. The most important new feature is the long-awaited ambient lighting, which extends across the entire dashboard from the front to the rear doors. In addition, the lighting can be set in different colors. Furthermore, the new Model 3 steering wheel, and the turn signal and gearshift lever are omitted. As known from the Model S/X, the indicator is now activated via buttons on the steering wheel and the corresponding gear is changed via the display. A second display for the rear row of seats is also new. If you look closely in the configurator between Standard and Long Range, the material changes visually. Whether this is just an error in the configurator or whether there are differences, we cannot say at the moment.
The seats have a slightly different shape and are ventilated. The center console has also been redesigned, and the storage compartments get a new shape and thus a revised sliding opening, similar to the current Model S/X. Starting with the Long Range variant, the premium sound system is still on board, which has also been revised and now has 17 speakers, 2 subwoofers and 2 amplifiers.
Which battery size and which battery cells the new Model 3 will have is currently still unclear. As soon as there is exact information, we will of course keep you up to date.
We are of the opinion that the refresh will give the Tesla Model 3 very well and that it is equipped for the next few years so that it can continue to keep up with the market. In addition, the Model 3 despite the current same price, has gained a lot in terms of new equipment, which makes the new Model 3 even more interesting for many customers.
