Tesla Optimus: Humanoid robots take over autonomous tasks in the factory

Tesla has announced that two of its humanoid robots named Optimus are already autonomously performing tasks in its production halls. The bipedal robot is currently being used in the production of Tesla as the company announced on X ahead of a shareholders' meeting.

The first videos show Optimus sorting batteries. By the end of 2025, the Tesla-robot will also be offered for sale to other companies by the end of 2025.

Tesla wrote on X: "We have two Optimus bots working autonomously doing tasks in the factory (and it's only June...)". This news was part of a long list of Teslamilestones to convince shareholders to vote again for a billion-dollar compensation package for CEO Elon Musk.

Elon Musk had already stated in April that Optimus could carry out simple manufacturing tasks in the laboratory. The aim is to bring the robots into the production halls for limited tasks by the end of the year. Musk reiterated at the time that he believes Optimus will be more valuable in the long term than any other product at Tesla could be. The price of Optimus is expected to be around 25,000 US dollars, less than half the price of a typical car. The aim is for Optimus to take over repetitive and potentially dangerous tasks currently performed by human workers.

This development demonstrates Tesla's commitment to advancing automation in manufacturing and further expanding its technological capabilities.
