The Tesla Model Y has now officially been awarded the status of the best-selling car (not just electric cars) in Europe in 2023, making it the first electric car ever to achieve this rank. After the Model Y was in first place for months last year, by the end of the year it was in a close duel with a completely different vehicle: the ubiquitous Dacia Sandero ICE small car, which is very affordable at a price of around 12,000 euros and therefore plays in a completely different class. The market researchers at Dataforce have now published year-end data which shows that the Tesla Model Y was sold 254,822 times in Europe last year. This means that the Tesla Model Y the Romanian Dacia Sandero, which was sold 235,893 times.
Last year, the Model Y was in first place in seven out of twelve months, the Dacia Sandero in four months. The Volkswagen T-Roc took first place for one month.
