Tesla Investor Day in Texas - next generation models, cyber truck and more!

Yesterday evening, Tuesday, Tesla held another annual shareholder meeting at the well-known Gigafactory Texas location. Attentive listeners were able to watch Tesla announce important information about its future plans.

Contrary to initial claims of the last few days spread in American media, Elon Musk will remain at the helm of the company as CEO. He announced this at the meeting itself. In addition to his role as CEO at Tesla, Musk is also CEO of the space and telecommunications company SpaceX and the largest shareholder and driving force at Twitter since 2022. However, Musk is working to move away from being CEO at Twitter in the future and focus on a tech leadership role.

Tesla plans to continue to grow rapidly and steadily. In order to achieve this goal, Musk will now take a measure that he previously did not think much of: The company will run ads in the future. "We're going to try out some advertising and see how it goes," the CEO said.

Also exciting was what Elon Musk had to say about future new vehicles from Tesla. A shadow image on a screen behind Musk showed similarities to a concept released about three and a half years ago. Tesla is expected to launch a compact model. Musk had already stated in 2020 that he was confident Tesla would produce a small, attractive electric car in about three years. A new platform is being developed for this.

Musk also spoke of another model for the mass market. According to earlier statements, two electric cars are planned to be developed specifically for the Chinese and European markets. The company estimates that these two new vehicles could achieve sales of around five million units per year. The CEO was not more specific at the recent shareholders' meeting.

A graphic also shows that the Tesla Cybertruck is well advanced in development and is expected to be delivered to the first customers this year. It is not yet entirely clear in which markets the Cybertruck will be offered. As for the new Roadster 2, which was originally announced for 2020, Elon Musk announces that development of the revised model of the sports car should be completed by the end of this year. Production could then begin in 2024. The latter are very vague statements that should not be relied on yet.

It was also very interesting to see that the Humanoid (Tesla robot) has also developed strongly in recent months and that Tesla has big goals for the future here as well.
