Tesla Grünheide: Employees from 150 countries in action

The Tesla-Werk in Grünheide (Brandenburg) is becoming increasingly international. According to the company, people from 150 different nations are now working there. Within just two years, the number of countries represented has tripled from 50 to 150, as Chairman of the Works Council Michaela Schmitz told RBB. Employees from Germany, Turkey, Poland, Syria and India are particularly represented.

Currently employed Tesla Around 12,000 employees in Grünheide. Despite an announced job removal of 400 employees in April due to sales difficulties, the workforce remains an international community. The diversity and cultural diversity in the work not only promotes cooperation, but also brings together people of different backgrounds.

"Here it is really global"

Maria Gago de Silva, who comes from Portugal, describes the work environment Tesla As an extremely international: "There are just two Germans in my team, everyone else comes from Latin America, China or India." She emphasizes that multicultural cooperation is much more diverse compared to her earlier jobs in Portugal and Great Britain.

David Mukabane, who came to Germany from Kenya, also praises the collegial environment Tesla: “We have all the tools you need for work. Management and engineers work closely together - we all pull together. ”

Team spirit despite language barriers

Interestingly, communication in the factory works smoothly despite the linguistic diversity, as several employees confirm. Even for the 15 deaf employees, solutions were found. Yevhen Krasnikov, one of the deaf employees, explains in sign language: “There is nothing negative. All are open -minded and communicative. Everyone focuses on their work and that works together. "

The works council chairman Schmitz also emphasizes the young age structure of the workforce. The employees have often only known themselves for two to three years, which leads to close cohesion and the development of friendships: "You help yourself - and this is also reflected in the collaboration."

Challenges and demands of the union

In March, a new works council was elected in the factory, in which almost 60 percent of the seats went to lists that were not unionized. The IG Metall, which had tried to stop the election in advance, calls for better working conditions, especially when dealing with sick leave. Tesla However, many of the demands, such as improved occupational safety and fair conditions for temporary workers, are already fulfilled.

The work in Grünheide remains an example of living internationality and shows how a diverse team can successfully work together - despite challenges such as language barriers and different cultural backgrounds.
