On Thursday, November 30, 2023, the time had finally come: The new Tesla Cybertruck was personally delivered to selected customers by Elon Musk at the so-called "Cybertruck Delivery Event" at the Tesla factory in Texas. Around three hours before the start of the delivery event, which was broadcast on X, Elon Musk drew attention to the eagerly awaited event. The picture showed seven Cybertrucks, with Elon Musk writing as a comment: "Cybertruck production line" is the only comment Elon Musk wrote on the picture from the Texan factory. Tesla has apparently initially delivered a total of 10 models.
At the event, Musk announced certain values with a few video clips. For example, the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of the most powerful model with the name "Cyberbeast": 2.6 seconds. In typical Tesla fashion, the accompanying acceleration race of the Cybertruck against a Porsche 911, which the edge pick-up naturally out-accelerated - with another 911 on a car transporter in tow.
Thanks to particularly large tires and a new type of air suspension, the new Cybertruck has impressive ground clearance. According to Musk, this is 17 inches, or around 43 centimeters. And that is under the entire vehicle. Musk also promises two differential locks on the axles. This means that the Cybertruck can do a lot off-road, as it has already demonstrated in some videos from Bajar, because the Cybertruck is not small at just under 5.7 meters in length.
Two crash tests were also shown, but not explained in detail - one showing a Cybertruck hitting the wall and another showing another vehicle hitting the side of the Cybertruck. Elon typically commented on this by saying "If you have an argument with another car, you will win". The repeatedly reported bullet resistance of the steel skin was also demonstrated in a clip in which, among other things, the car was shot at with an automatic weapon.
As announced at the time, Tesla will offer the Cybertruck in three variants: the entry-level version with one engine and rear-wheel drive, a Long Range with all-wheel drive and the so-called Cyberbeast, also with all-wheel drive, as the top model.
Tesla currently provides the following data for the Cybertruck in the German configurator:
Rear-wheel drive: the entry-level variant is said to come with an estimated range of 402 km and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in <6.7 seconds. The top speed is given as 180 km/h and the towing capacity as 3402 kg. According to the website, however, this model will not be available until 2025. The price is quoted at 49,890 dollars.
All-wheel drive: Thanks to a larger battery, the all-wheel drive variant is also called Long Range and has an estimated range of 547 km or, with an optional range extender, over 755 km and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in <4.3 seconds. The top speed is also specified at 180 km/h and the towing capacity at 4990 kilograms. According to the website, this model will be delivered from 2024. The price is quoted at 68,890 dollars.
Cyberbeast: The top version, the so-called "Cyberbeast", is expected to have an estimated range of 515 km or, with an optional range extender, over 705 km and accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. The top version has a top speed of 209 km/h and a towing capacity of 4990 kilograms. According to the website, this model is to be delivered from 2024. The price is quoted at 96,390 dollars.
