Tesla ends Cybertruck wrap service: What does this mean for customers?

Tesla has ended its in-house wrap service for the Cybertruck - a decision that has surprised many fans. Just two months after reducing the color options from 11 to 3 colors, it seems Tesla seems to have completely discontinued this service for the futuristic pickup. What's behind this, and what alternatives are there?

Unique designs for the Cybertruck: Why a wrap was so popular

The Cybertruck, with its stainless steel-colored exoskeleton and the striking, angular surfaces, provided the perfect basis for personalized wrapping. Tesla introduced the wrap service for the first time in October 2023 for the models Model 3 and Model Y and later expanded it for the Cybertruck. Customers had the opportunity to customize their vehicles in different colors.

The colors available for the Cybertruck wrap service:

  • Satin Rose Gold
  • Satin Stealth Black
  • Satin Ceramic White

The price of 6.500 USD was, however, a hurdle for many customers.

Why was the service discontinued?

Tesla has not given an official explanation as to why the wrap service was terminated. However, there are some plausible reasons:

  1. Limited availability: Installation was only available at three service centers in California.
  2. High cost: The price for a Teslawrap was significantly higher than with third-party providers.
  3. Low demand: The number of Cybertrucks on the road is still limited, which keeps the potential market small.
  4. Focus on other models: Tesla Could focus more on the wrap options still available for the Model 3 and Model Y as these vehicles have a larger customer base.

What does this mean for Cybertruck owners?

Even if Tesla has discontinued the wrap service for the Cybertruck, this does not mean the end of customization:

  • Third-party options: Numerous companies offer professional wrap services, often at a lower price.
  • DIY solutions: With some skill, do-it-yourself wrap kits can also be an option.

Conclusion: Wrap service gone, but options remain

Tesla has the Cybertruck wrap service but the option to customize your vehicle remains. Third-party providers and creative alternatives ensure that you can continue to give your Cybertruck a unique look.
