Anyone who is familiar with electric cars and Tesla knows that, in addition to a comprehensive charging infrastructure, the company's own models also offer almost perfect route planning. Nevertheless, Tesla continues to work on improving route planning and making it as easy and safe as possible for drivers to find suitable charging stations. Some new functions have been added in recent years, such as the display of free charging stations at a Supercharger hotspot, how many charging stations are currently unavailable and even the utilization of the locations at different times of day.
However, Tesla is now importing additional data that can be important for perfect charging planning. With the 2023.28 update, Tesla now predicts how many vehicles with navigation switched on are also currently on their way to your selected Supercharger, how many charging stations are likely to be available when you arrive and how long a possible traffic jam could last. Tesla also includes the information that the respective vehicles provide on the possible charging forecast until you continue your journey. At the moment, the new function is only available in the USA, but it can be assumed that Tesla will extend this function to other countries as soon as sufficient data has been collected. It is not yet known exactly how Tesla will take third-party chargers into account here and remains to be seen.
