Tesla has started installing the first fourth-generation Superchargers in Germany in recent weeks. The first V4 charging stations were installed at the Gigafactory Grünheide near Berlin back in August this year, with other locations following later. However, approval for operation has not yet been granted.
Since Saturday, November 4, the first V4 Superchargers, which are equipped with small screens and card readers, can now be used. This was confirmed at the Peine site in Lower Saxony, among others. A photo published on X shows these new displays and a card reader, which were not yet available on the older Supercharger generations. The display shows the ad-hoc price for charging electric vehicles of all brands at 0.55 euros per kilowatt hour and a blocking fee of one euro per minute. The lower prices for Tesla vehicles can still be seen in the vehicle or in the app.
Ad-hoc charging with a payment terminal is a prerequisite for charging in compliance with calibration law as prescribed in Germany. At the previous Superchargers, the charging process for Tesla vehicles could be started automatically; for vehicles from other manufacturers, the app had to be used. The Superchargers of the fourth generation (V4) are characterized by a new, higher design without a recess in the middle and black instead of red accents. In addition, a longer charging cable has been attached to the outside for the first time. The charging capacity is an impressive 350 kilowatts compared to 250 kilowatts for the previous generation, making it the highest charging capacity currently supported by Tesla for electric vehicles.
Tesla Superchargers V4 are online in Germany from today! 🎉
