Will Tesla succeed in setting a record quarter with Q1 2023?

As the end of Q1 2023 approaches, Tesla is looking wide-eyed at its first quarterly numbers in 2023, where it appears to be on track for a record quarter for deliveries, led by extremely strong numbers in the U.S., China and Norway. Thanks to the ramp-up in Berlin and Texas, where Tesla recently achieved a production rate of 5,000 Model Y-vehicles per week, the figures are significantly higher than in previous quarters. In addition, production capacity at existing factories in California and China was further increased.

In the U.S., Tesla's massive price cuts have led to unprecedented demand, as we previously reported. For the Model Y, its most popular model at the moment, the automaker ran out of new production capacity in the middle of the quarter. However, the price cuts in China and Europe are also having an effect, as demand increases. Importantly, vehicles that are ready for delivery will also be delivered this quarter. Tesla is known for doing everything possible to make this happen.

Last quarter (Q4 2022), Tesla delivered a record number of about 405,000 electric vehicles. Historically, Tesla's first quarter deliveries have been lower than or only slightly higher than the fourth quarter.
