500 million US dollars in 2024 for the expansion of the Supercharger network

Elon Musk has announced on "X" that Tesla will invest more than 500 million dollars in the expansion of the Supercharger network this year. This investment is intended to create thousands of new charging stations and further improve the range of the network. This announcement comes against the backdrop of the announcement at the end of April that Tesla was further reducing its workforce, including the Supercharger department. In particular, it was announced that Rebecca Tinucci, senior executive and senior director of the Supercharger business, was made redundant along with much of her team. The announcement in early May indicated that the expansion of the Supercharger network was progressing more slowly than planned and that the focus was now on the existing locations. This is exactly what Elon Musk seems to want to revise with the latest announcement.

Despite this internal restructuring, the Supercharger division reaffirmed its commitment to its mission of operating and expanding the largest and most efficient charging network in the world at the "X" and thanked operators and suppliers for their patience during the restructuring. It has also been revealed that Rebecca Tinucci played a leading role in securing deals with other car manufacturers, fueling speculation about how her dismissal could affect the future of the Supercharger division. So it remains to be seen how the future expansion will proceed.
